The Almanacs
Between 1550 and 1566 Nostradamus wrote at least one each year and published them in autumn. These yearly publications presented his power for prophecies and included details about planetary constellations, lunar phases and weather forecasts, but also political predictions. |
The Prophecies
He gained an immense amount of popularity from the Almanacs and began to write predictions for years into the future (upto year 3737). After three and a half sections of the book were published, he decided not to publish the rest although they were already written. The Renaissance was a time of great upheaval and Nostradamus knew that if he published the books it would anger the Church and government. This in turn could have terrible consequences for him such as being put up before the Inquisition. Hence he left them unpublished till after his death. His predictions ranged from 1555 to 3737 in which he foretold a range of events such as the future of many Kings and Queens, the French Revolution and other political based prophecies. However even greater were the predictions of world wars and natural disasters. |
